Dinner at the Angle's

I forgot to put this picture in earlier...The Angle's (old neighbors in Atlanta) had us over for dinner. We had REALLY good BBQ pork! It was nice to visit with them!

Some Disney Pictures...

Spring break was a blast. We kept busy and went on just about every single ride! After 3 days at Disney Marie, Emily, and I drove back up to Atlanta with Brian and Terrisa. Brian was nice enough to take off work. One of the highlights was when we all went into Terrisa's classroom and played math games with her students. Oooh, and the dinner at Stoney River! :)

Hannah...matching Mommy and Daddy with her plaid shorts...Haha!

The whole gang at Animal Kingdom....

Mom and Dad bought us matching t-shirts...we were nerds! :)

Starting off the first day at Hollywood Studios!!

Study Break!

Just thought I'd take a break from studying and quickly update my blog. At this point anything is looking better than my textbook and notes! This week has consisted of three midterm exams! Needless to say, I have been extremely stressed out...just ask my family :) I had one exam yesterday (Tuesday) in my Services Marketing class. I spent a lot of time studying for that one over the weekend and on Monday...I left the exam feeling pretty good about it so that was a relief. BUT tomorrow, I have two exams and they are back-to-back. Oh well, it will all be over in less than 24 hours.

Let's see, I don't really have anything exciting to write b/c my life is being consumed by school and work right now. I am really enjoying my internship at Southwest Airlines. I feel as though I am getting really good, hands-on marketing experience. Still no sign of any job offers though post-graduation. Unfortunately, with my busy schedule, I haven't been able to really take full advantage of my free flight benefit this semester. However, I am going to Orlando next weekend (to Disney) and will fly with SWA then. I really want to get up to Rochester sometime soon! Its just a matter of finding a good weekend. I am thinking sometime in April...possibly Easter weekend.

Speaking of travel, I am going to Disney World next Friday (3/6)!! I am SOO excited for this trip!!! 1. It will be nice to get away from school 2. I haven't seen Brian and Terrisa since their wedding back in May and since I've been back from Spain 3. Two of my roommates from Orlando (when I was working at Disney) will coincidentally be there on March 6 and I plan to meet up with them for dinner! 4. We are driving back up to Atlanta afterward with Brian and Terrisa 5. It's Disney World!!!

Emily, Hannah, Marie (my good friend here in Phoenix and also former Disney employee, but different semester than me), and I are flying out on Friday, March 6. Brian and Terrisa and Adam and Sarah (Terrisa's brother and wife) are driving down from Atlanta. We are spending Saturday, Sunday, and morning of Monday at the parks and will be staying at the All Star Sports Hotel on Disney property. Hannah will fly back to Phoenix on Monday (she has a different spring break than us) and the rest of us will drive back to Atlanta and stay until Thursday.

Then, I have a few days before going back to school!! Speaking of school...this break was TOO long :) Back to homework!!! Look for more interesting blogs in the coming weeks as I actually do something fun!!!

Hannah's dance!

Hannah had a big school dance on Friday night. I was able to get the afternoon off work to help her and her friends get with their hair and make-up! It was a lot of fun for the girls...and me! Hannah looked sooo pretty and very grown-up :) AND...she actually won "princess" of the dance. She was nominated by several of her classmates and then voted as the winner!

Here are a couple of pictures...

Hannah and some of her good friends...

My Uncle Mark visited us from Buffalo, NY this past weekend too. He was actually greeted by a bunch of 13 and 14 year old girls getting ready for the dance! Haha. My dad and Uncle Mark kept busy with an ASU basketball game, a visit to the Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture school, and a hike. Unfortunately, Emily and I were both working quite a bit this weekend!

George and I celebrated Valentine's day on Friday night by going out to dinner...I had to work on Saturday night! He also surprised me by sending a really pretty arrangement of flowers to the hospital on Saturday (while I was volunteering). It was a nice surprise!!

This week is pretty normal, but next week I have THREE exams!!! NOOO!!! I have some major studying to do!

Love you all! ~Heather

So little time...

I guess this blog isn't going as well as I had intended. I keep on forgetting about it and it never gets updated! When I was in Spain I had so much time to do stuff like blog. I was in a habit and really enjoyed doing it. I miss those days...I need to go back to Europe!! No work, lots of traveling, hanging out with friends every single night, a senora who cooks 3 meals/days and does all my laundry and cleaning (although my Grandma Clark basically does do that!)...it was the life!

Oops, I started daydreaming of life in Spain...haha. Needless to say I have been busy. I have been working about 20 hours/week at Southwest Airlines as a marketing intern. This past week I was working the FBR Open golf tournament here in Phoenix. Southwest had a corporate tent on the 17 hole with a very nice view of the course. For those of you who don't know, the FBR Open is known for being really rowdy and unlike most golf tournaments. I think I actually read in the newspaper that it had the largest attendance of any PGA tournament. We had a caterer in the tent serving food and drinks all 5 days (Wed.-Sun.) They also have an after-party event called the "Bird's Nest." On Saturday night my parents and I got up on stage in front of hundreds of people and threw out Southwest bags (some with free tickets) into the crowd. It was pretty funny to watch some of the crazy people out there! My dad was also out at the FBR volunteering as a scorer for different groups of golfers. My mom just came along for the ride :)

Sunday, of course, was the Superbowl! All of us Arizonans were pumped up for the Cardinals. Unfortunately they didn't pull through, but it was a good game nevertheless!

And then there is school...ooh how I looove school. Actually, I do like school a lot, but I'm getting to the stressful point in the semester...wait, I'm always stressed about school. Haha. I really, really love my classes this semester. I am in all marketing classes and am interested in all of them. I'm so glad that I decided to go with marketing as my major...its so interesting to me and something that I definitely will enjoy a career in.

Also, I am working on my thesis. I think I wrote about this before...I am doing a marketing plan for a company called Canvas. Canvas is a start-up company. Now you might ask what type of company...well, that is what I am trying to figure out! Anita (founder of Canvas) has developed a program where students can identify their strengths, focus their talents, and make the most out of their education experience. She doesn't really know what she wants that program to look like and function. Again, that is where I come in :) I get to figure all of that out and make recommendations to her about how to set-up and run her business. It is a pretty big job, but luckily I have the help of my thesis director, Amy. Amy is a professor at ASU in the marketing department...really, really smart and knowledgeable lady. She kind of steers me in the right direction. I will defend my thesis in front of three readers (Amy, Anita, and one other) in April.

So besides school and Southwest I am looking for post-graduation jobs! I really have nothing to write about this b/c nothing has really happened. I have a few leads, one being Southwest. Hopefully I will find out more about that in the coming months.

Gosh, now that I have put everyone to sleep...I think I will go to sleep too :)

If anyone has an idea of what they would like to see me blog about, send me an email!!
